This unassuming gem invites travelers and locals alike to indulge in the warm embrace of genuine country hospitality. With its inviting atmosphere and a menu brimming with comforting choices, it's the perfect spot to relax and recharge.

Step inside, and you're greeted by the aroma of freshly baked scones, a signature offering that has garnered rave reviews from customers. Bernadette Tilden encapsulated this sentiment perfectly when she praised, "the oven fresh scones were as good as my Grandma’s," evoking a sense of nostalgia and heartwarming familiarity. The café excels at bringing a taste of home to every visitor, with dishes that remind you of childhood memories.

Whether it's a lazy morning or a midday escape, savor a cup of rich, aromatic coffee, said to be the "best" by satisfied customer Allan Crack. Pair it with their delightful scones topped with jam and cream, or opt for one of the homemade pies that Richard Smith raved about for "lunch or afternoon tea." The café's menu is not just about scones; it offers cozy soups, like the hearty pumpkin and creamy potato and leek, perfect for warming up on a chilly day, as noted by Vanessa Keenan's experience.

The Tinsmith's Cottage isn't just about the food; it’s about the experience. Yvonne highlighted its "gorgeous little coffee shop" vibe where you can watch the world go by, with charming views that include a fish pond and a passing train, creating a picturesque backdrop for your leisurely visit. This café epitomizes the essence of what a community hub should be, and the hardworking owners infuse every inch of the space with passion and care.

So whether you're in search of a cozy corner to indulge in afternoon tea or a family-friendly atmosphere where delightful pastries await, The Tinsmith's Cottage is a must-visit. Country hospitality at its finest! Even though the town was out of power, we were given the best service with a friendly smile. The oven fresh scones were as good as my Grandma’s and the ambience of the cafe was lovely. A must visit!

Had a lovely morning tea here with my family today. Grandson loved the fish pond, and watching a train go by at the back fence. Scones with jam & cream always great, and the coffee is the best. This place is the perfect spot for a bite to eat and just to relax & watch the world go by

This little cafe was such a welcome find on a very cold day. We were offered the choice of two soups - pumpkin or potato and leek and both were delicious. We had a cup of tea ( real tea in a pot) and would have loved to have tried the yummy looking scones and jam as well … hopefully next time !! Thanks

Gorgeous little coffee shop with homemade pies and sausage rolls. So great to support a business like this in this small town of Peterborough! Well done to the hard-working owners. Great coffee too.

What a gem of a stop in Peterborough! The Tinsmith’s Cottage is one of those places that feels like you’ve stepped straight into a time capsule, part coffee shop, part bric-a-brac treasure trove, and full of charm. Greg and Evie, I hope I got their names right, the wonderfully quirky couple who run it, make you feel like old friends the moment you walk in. Their laughter fills the room as much as the smell of good coffee and fresh baking. The homemade sausage roll was easily the best I have ever eaten, flaky, perfectly seasoned and clearly made with love. While we were enjoying our coffee, a couple of lovely local ladies dropped in for their daily visit. They called themselves the “local riff-raff” and brought even more fun to the place. Between the banter, the vintage wares and the cosy retro kitchen, it felt like we had wandered into a living postcard of country Australia. If you are passing through Peterborough on your way to the Flinders Ranges, do yourself a favour and stop in. This quirky little cottage is full of heart, good humour and great coffee. A true country treasure.
